Shawn Czerkis

Hello, Charlotte Lab Family! My name is Shawn Czerkis and I am delighted to serve our school
community as the Assistant Head of Culture and Discipline.

I am entering my 12th year as an educator. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 2012,
I graduated from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan where I earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies and English language arts with a teaching certification
for grades 6-12. I relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2013. In 2019, I earned my Master
of Arts degree in K-12 school administration from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs,
North Carolina.

I have served as a language arts and social studies teacher, a middle school athletic director, a
coach of multiple sports, an elementary and middle school assistant principal, as well as a
summer school coordinator in my time working in Gaston County Schools and
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

In my time away from work, I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, tennis, pickleball, and softball,
traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
